About this experience
The Aswan High Dam shows how profoundly the Nile and the communities along it changed in the twentieth century. Lake Nasser stretches out behind the dam. A stop here offers views of the landscape and an introduction to the scale of this engineering project.
At Aswan’s ancient granite quarry lies the Unfinished Obelisk. Cracks in the stone prevented its completion, leaving visible clues to how ancient stoneworkers planned to separate such a monument from the bedrock. Both stops can be combined with Philae Temple.
